Xtreme Close-Up: Bare Katie Holmes
Lets be frank here. I hate Katie Holmes. I’ve hated her for a long time now. It’s nothing personal, since I don’t know her, but I do hate the way she talks and smiles. Just hate her.
I only saw one episode of Dawson’s Creek, and in that episode, someone vandalized Joey’s painting. That made me happy. I hated Katie Holmes even more after seeing her on Batman Begins .
But what I’ve come to realize lately, is that we see Katie Holmes so much in the tabloids, news and whatevers, but she’s always just a shadow. See, it’s all about Tom Cruise, since he is an ego-driven maniac. So I figured, shouldn’t Katie get some alone time? Well, here it is:
Kate Noelle "Katie" Holmes was born on December 18, 1978, in Toledo, Ohio. Holmes grew up in a Roman-Catholic family, together with 4 more brothers. She attended the all-girls Notre Dame Academy, from which she graduated with a 4.0 average. As a teenager, she participated in school productions such as Hello, Dolly and Damn Yankees.
Someone once wrote in an article about Holmes: "The way she approached her unusual education was as American as apple pie: she went to cheerleading practice, got straight A grades, and made a pledge that she would remain a virgin until marriage." Well, now we know her word is worth crap.

When she was 14 she started attending modeling school in her hometown. The kid obviously made a good impression, as she found herself an agent pretty soon and landed her first role in a film by the age of 19, when she played the role of Libbets Casey in Ang Lee’s The Ice Storm.
Holmes was offered the lead on Buffy, the Vampire Slayer but turned it down. For many people, that would be a fatal mistake, but Katie is a very lucky girl. When she was invited to audition for a new Kevin Williamson series, she couldn’t make it because she had "prior commitments" to her school. The producers allowed her to audition on tape, and watched her on video do a dialogue with her mother, when they decided they found what they were looking for. Lucky girl, right?
Lucky cause that show, Dawson’s Creek, was to dominate teen’s lives between 1998-2003, and Katie had one of the most important roles, arguably the most important one, in it.
Mind-babbling Joey Potter and her friends became a huge hit, and so did Holmes and the rest of the crew. Katie dated her co-star, Joshua Jackson, who played Pacey, for a few months. She describes him as her first love, and they remained good friends after their break-up.
Holmes’ success brought her more roles on the big screen, including Go, Teaching Mrs. Tingle and Phone Booth. She describes the films she’s done as "bombs", so at least she’s being honest.
After Dawson’s Creek ended in 2003, she couldn’t quite maintain the fame with her work in films, although she did act in some successful movies such as Batman Begins and Thank You For Smoking, but that’s because she sucked.
But in 2005, after these last two films came out, her life was about to change forever. Holmes has been seeing actor Chris Klein for 5 years. They were even engaged to be married in 2003. But in the beginning of 2005 they broke up. Sounds like nothing special.

But it was just weeks after this break up that Katie had started dating her current man of the hour, Tom Cruise. It seemed just like one of those romances between an older actor who can get any woman he wants, and a younger actress who can keep him satisfied for a short time. But then, things got weird.
On May 23rd 2005, Cruise gave his famous sofa performance on Oprah, making sure the entire world knew he is in love with Katie Holmes and that he is completely out of his right mind. Shortly after that, on June 17th, came the marriage proposal on top of the Eiffel tower, and the quirky news conference concerning the engagement.

All through this period of time, Katie stopped working. She also converted from a Roman Catholic to a scientologist, like Cruise himself. The rumors talked about her being hypnotized or spelled by Cruise, to adjust to his lifestyle. Pictures of her looking "out of this world" were becoming more and more popular.
On October 2005 Cruise and Holmes dropped another big one, and announced they are expecting a baby. Even before the birth, speculations regarding the fate of the "alien baby" were raised everywhere, but they only increased after the birth.
Suri Cruise was born on April 18th 2006 in Santa Monica. She was kept hidden from the public for 5 months, which made a lot of people wonder: is the damn thing even real? Now we all know that there really is Suri, but back then, things weren’t that certain.
After exposing Suri, TomKat revealed their plans for an upcoming wedding. The long awaited ceremony was held this weekend, on November 18th, in a 15th century castle in Bracciano, Italy, in front of 150 guests. Katie, Tom Suri and Tom’s kids from his marriage to Nicole Kidman, all wore Armani.
So this is the story of a the town’s princess who wanted to be a good Christian and ended up as the scientologist’s other half, or fifth. Only time will tell if she gets her career back or ends up as a numb plant on Tom’s mental piece.

Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes Marry!

It’s official: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are now husband and wife. The couple exchanged vows Saturday in front of more than 150 guests at the Odescalchi Castle in Lake Bracciano, Italy.
With thousands of fans, photographers and TV cameras watching from afar, Cruise and Holmes were joined by family – Katie’s dad Martin walked her down the aisle – and a slew of celeb pals, including Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Brooke Shields and Chris Henchy, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, and Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy, among others.
The sunset ceremony was performed by a Scientology minister, according to a statement from their reps. The wedding party included Cruise’s children, Isabella and Connor, the best man was Cruise’s best friend, David Miscavige – the head of the Church of Scientology – and Katie’s sister Nancy Blaylock served as the matron of honor.
Though initially there were questions about whether Cruise and Holmes’s marriage on Saturday was official – the Mayor of Bracciano, Italy, said the couple needed to have a civil ceremony in town in order to make it legal – Cruise’s reps say Tom and Katie took care of everything beforehand.
"As is customary for couples marrying outside of the United States, Cruise and Holmes officialized their marriage in Los Angeles prior to their departure for Italy," according to the statement.
• The bride: Holmes wore an off-the-shoulder Armani gown with a train in ivory silk cadis adorned in Valenciennes lace and Swarovski beaded crystal embroidery. Holmes also wore an ivory tulle floor-length veil and ivory silk shoes. Armani, which outfitted the entire wedding, also supplied Katie’s bouquet of calla lilies, as well as a champagne evening gown, which she wore at the reception.
• The groom: Cruise wore a navy blue Armani tux.
• The couple’s rings: Their rings were white gold Cartier with diamonds.
• The meal: After cocktails, guests were served Italian hors d’oeuvres, followed by a multi-course meal.
• The cake: Five-tiered white chocolate, decorated with marzipan roses, and studded with white chocolate chips.
• The entertainment: Italian singer Andrea Bocelli.
Saturday’s wedding started on a damp note, with scattered rain throughout the morning. Holmes and 7-month-old daughter Suri were escorted into the castle under a cluster of green umbrellas. A little over an hour later, the groom was escorted from the Hassler hotel in Rome to Lake Bracciano 18 miles away. With the sun going down, candles lit up the perimeter of the 15th-century castle as limousines carrying the guests drove through the gates.
Fans and media were kept at a safe distance from the castle: Police checkpoints prevented anyone unauthorized from getting too close, and journalists were stationed in the nearby town square.
Saturday’s ceremony brought the couple’s 19-month romance full circle: Cruise and Holmes first stepped out as a couple in Rome in April 2005, with Cruise already referring to Holmes as "amore mio" just a few weeks after their first date (sushi, a private plane ride and a motorcycle trip to the beach).
Holmes wasn’t shy about her feelings either. "(I’m) totally in love. He’s amazing, he’s kind, he’s generous. He made me laugh like I’ve never laughed," she gushed two months later. "I feel like he’s made my life."
Life changed even more in mid-June 2005. During a late-night candlelit dinner at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Cruise proposed with a five-carat diamond ring. "I want to marry her as soon as possible," Cruise announced. "You have to do what you feel is right," he told PEOPLE at the time. "It’s (about) your own integrity and how you want to live your life."
Katie Spends $3,000 on Honeymoon Lingerie

The real story isn’t Katie Holmes‘ Armani-designed wedding dress, but what she’ll be wearing on her wedding night.
According to MSNBC’s The Scoop, Tom Cruise’s fiancée recently hit La Bra Lingerie in West Hollywood and spent over $3,000 on lacy intimates, more than $1,000 of which was for a "bridal collection" set.
Holmes, 27, picked up the Chantilly lace bridal collection, which includes a bra that cost $440, a $340 thong, a garter belt for $220, and silk stockings that went for $95 —for a total of $1,190.
Additionally, the bride-to-be nabbed a silk nightgown and a matching robe trimmed with ostrich feathers that set her back $620, a lace bra decorated with Swarovski crystals for $380 and matching thong with crystals for $175, as well as two sets of silk pajamas and matching robes at $425 each.
"They weren’t all white — and they certainly weren’t virginal," a source told The Scoop. "But she’s a mom, so I guess that’s appropriate."
TomKat Lands in Rome!

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes arrived at Rome’s Ciampino Airport on Monday with their daughter, Suri, nearly 7 months, and Cruise’s children, 13-year-old daughter Isabella and 11-year-old son Connor, in tow. Upon arrival, the family alighted to the posh Hotel Hassler Roma, a five-star hotel located at the top of the Spanish Steps.
As Us exclusively reported last month, Cruise, 44, and Holmes, 27, will be married in Italy on November 18. Friends of the couple were notified in October to clear their schedules for the weekend of November 16 -19. Holmes’ wedding dress and Cruise’s tux are being designed by Giorgio Armani.
The couple were already the picture of wedded bliss during a visit to NYC last week. According to the New York Daily News‘ Rush & Molloy, the couple were “Velcro’d to each other” at the Condé Nast Black Ball benefit on November 9. When Holmes wasn’t clinging to Cruise’s waist, he was kissing her bare shoulders.
In the meantime, Holmes is reportedly shunning dieting advice from BFF Victoria Beckham, 32, to whom she was glued during Paris Fashion Week. According to Page Six, the skinny soccer mom was helping Holmes lose her baby weight, but Beckham’s food restrictions were too much for Holmes.
A source said, "Victoria maintains her tiny frame because she only permits herself to snack — not eat — on edamame, pretzels and occasionally sushi."
Beckham also is a Diet Coke fanatic and told friends she hasn’t drunk water in years because she "hates the taste."
TomKat getting married in Italy
Although reports that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes will get married in George Clooney’s mansion in Italy have been shot down, a rep for the couple has announced that the couple will, indeed, tie the knot in the Mediterranean country. The same rep said that, other than the country of choice, he does not know the exact location of the wedding.
In the meantime, several sources have informed MSNBC that it is possible that the ceremony will take place on November 18th, in Georgio Armani’s Italian villa. The fashion designer is providing both the bride and groom’s wedding clothing, and with the prices he will charge, it would be only fair to allow TomKat to get hitched at his place.
